Gary Indiana seems to be the last city one would think of as a Fisherman's Paradise, but for some, it is just that. While Gary may be known for being a rough inner city surrounded by dozens of factories and steel mills, it's Lake Michigan waters provide some of the best fishing on the entire lake.

Starting with the spring coho run, the various warm water discharges, harbors and tributaries enable Anglers to fish from shore all year round.  Scroll down to see some of the hot spots of this area.

State Line Power Plant - Chicago:
Just South of Calumet Park, the power plant can be accessed from the old Falstaff road at the corner of 103rd & Ewing, or from the Horseshoe Casino exit on Indianapolis Blvd.  Access is by the Whihala Beach entrance.  Walk the rocks to the corner, then around to the discharge.
Special Notes:

BE ADVISED: Although the power plant is located on Illinois land, the water is considered to be in Indiana, and therefore a valid Indiana fishing license in required.
